Key Features
Grilled or Braised Veal Chops or Shanks
Because veal tends to be gamy yet rich when cooked in shanks or chops—especially when eating the meat near bone
it will need a wine that stands up to the gamy and rich flavor of the veal chops and shanks. We recommend a dry and very full-bodied wine
Castillo Grande is a soft easy drinking red wine, full of delicious ripe fruit flavours.
Excellent taste with carefully selected flavours blended to make the best taste for your pleasure.

With so many regional synonyms, you will loose your breath trying to keep track of them all.Â
Whereas good Tempranillo wines are made in Portugal, Australia and the US, some of the best come from the two regions of Rioja and Ribera del Duero, known for their lively deep-flavored reds.Â
Tempranillo produces vibrant and aromatic wines that range over spice, leather, tobacco leaves and occasionally strawberries. Oak is often associated with this grape due to aging on either French barriques or American oak.Â
As an overall savory grape with soft tannins it makes as a great food-wine. Pair it with traditional tapas like Jamón Ibérico, or try it with a milder curry dish.*There are a ton of different ways to cook a tasty veal dish; sautéing, broiling, grilling, braising, and including it in a stew come to mind. The best wine pairing will take the different methods to cooking veal into account in order to come up with the best way to bring out the ingredients used in the preparation of the dish. The wine will seek to complement its flavor and texture rather than overpower it.*Pairing Basics
On a basic level, veal can pair well with very full-bodied dry red wine, and can also pair well with full-bodied wine. Keep in mind that the more complex the veal dish (such as stew, which has several different flavors), the more acidity it should have. It should be able to cut through the flavor without out-shining it.
